UDA Process Mastery

The unstructured data analysis process is complex. It is these very complexities that have caused UDA to be heavily under-utilized as a tool. And, it is the reason that ctFLY Company has dedicated itself to developing, maintaining and continually improving process efficiency to go along with the technology tools we’ve created.

In practice, we follow a 10 Step Model for our UDA process. For simplicity, we present it here in three modules. The first module is Objectives & Data. This includes establishing a measurable objective and ensuring data is readily available that supports the analysis objective.

The centerpiece module is the Conversion Process that utilizes our conversion technology tools. The use of these tools is ctFLY’s distinguishing capability. The final module is Results Delivery and entails establishing with our customer the way in which they want results. This can vary from transaction level detail to summarized trends and patterns.

Objectives & Data – Helping Determine the Direction

Anytime there is a new capability – like there is with unstructured data analysis – it takes a period of time for executives to grasp the capability. Consider the electronic spreadsheet that arrived commercially in the early 1980s. It wasn’t until the 1990s that uses and applications exploded. Thirty years later it can be recognized as revolutionizing financial analysis. We are now ten years into the capability and working with executives to establish objectives, we’re developing the applications that will revolutionize unstructured data analysis.

A critical step to delivering on the objective is having data that is readily available. Frequently companies have misperceptions both about the availability of data and the richness or fertility of the data. UDA can only be applied to data that is written. It is not designed to infer or project conclusions.


Conversion Process – Precision Takes You From Random to Insightful

The Conversion Process is the way in which large amounts of loose, unorganized data is converted into packaged, organized information. The process is executed with the conversion technology tools described under Unique Technology.

All of the tools are on a common platform designed for the ctFLY user (see Business Experts) to execute an analysis process that supports the engagement objective. In other words, the conversion process isn’t artificial intelligence that runs by itself. Rather, it is a process that enables us to perform whatever tasks and functions are needed for any given situation.


Results Delivery – Serving it Up the Way You Want it

Results Delivery is about establishing the most efficient means to incorporating information we find into our customer’s existing infrastructure. Some customers want specific transaction level detail that is directly integrated into their transaction systems. Other customers want dashboard level summaries that can be mixed with their existing monthly reporting package. Some customers want an independent report.

We recognize that usually the last thing companies want is more reports and more information. Therefore, we strive to work with existing infrastructure tools. A great example of this is predictive models where we can extract specific granular facts that can be fed into any of our customers’ predictive models. A model using unstructured data extractions will be far more effective than a model that only uses structured data.
